\ string method |
 |
For
baskets made of strings or flat strings you need a plaster mould,
which will have the inside shape of the basket and a draw-plate
(manual or by oildynamic pressure). You put some clay into the
cylinder and it will be pushed out through the holes at the
bottom, taking their shape. |
| Then
you prepare a clay foil, which will be the base, and you start
putting the previously prepared strings one next to the other
in order to obtain the pattern you wish. |
|
 |
Once
the plaiting has been completed it is necessary to add a feet,
made of a small clay coil, and applied to the base. After this
last operation wait until the piece has become harder and then
remove it from the mould. |
| By
means of this technique you can get many shapes with different
interwoven patterns and many kinds of strings. This kind of
working can be only handmade. |
